Milkshakes are a great energy food. I’ve only had three on this trip, and this afternoon I had a strawberry one. It helped me (and my 25Kg load) over the Loess Hills (see pic above) as well as through a heavy thunderstorm to a cabin in a ski resort near Honey Creek on the north side of Omaha. The cabin is as cheap as your average motel but with more room, a sofa, microwave and fridge – I’ve even set up a clothes line to dry my washing!
