Libby: Forest fire! (day 63)

26 July 2008

The whole day was spent on Kookanusa Lake with the the song from The Cat came back playing in my mind. It was quite annoying. For those of you who do not know what I’m talking about:

At one point I began to run out of water and so pulled into an old picnic area thinking that the water was drinkable. Halfway through a bottle I noticed the little bits floating around inside, I didn’t feel too well after that!

Finally the end of Kookanusa Lake was reached and I dived into the first bar for ice tea and a bite to eat. The owner recommended me a place to stay for the night in Libby.

On the way to Libby a forest fire was burning on the east side and gave the air a dry smokey feel, it even turned the light yellow and exagerated the sunset.

In Libby I set up camp at the Fireman’s Park near the center of town and bumped into Trevor, a retired Canadian cycling around the area, and Dave a Yatch Design Student cycling from Maine to Anacortes. He was about my age and so we decided over a drink to team up and end the epic adventure together.
